Since you’re here, let me introduce myself. My name is Kristen.
In spite of the fact that I have a website all about me, I really don’t like to brag. I was raised to believe that it’s impolite to talk about yourself. However, I’ll share a few defining characteristics that might give you an idea about the kind of person I am. This stuff will never come up in a job interview. I think it’s more significant than that.
I’m an Iowa native. My Midwestern roots are important to me, but I love living in the west. Salt Lake City is my home now. I’ll stay as long as they’ll have me. I won’t, however, become a skier.
I’m a Cubs fan. Not the kind that lives and dies with every season. I appreciate the history of baseball; I believe a summer day at Wrigley Field is perfect; I know that whether the Cubs get to the next World Series or not, they are making history and I am a part of it.
I’ve spent a lot of time in school, mostly because I’ve never been sure of what I want to be when I grow up. At one time, I had hopes of wearing gym shorts and a t-shirt to work every day. I still spend more money on running shoes than on business suits, but I manage to wear a skirt every now and again. I’m working toward a master’s degree in Information Design and Communication. I prefer words and pictures to numbers and statistics. I don’t believe there are bad words, just poor presentation. I’m responsible for some of that, but I’m getting better.
I try to learn something new every day, to exercise every day, and to laugh really hard every day. My favorite color is black. I like most dogs better than a lot of people. My favorite place is home. My mid-life crisis is in remission. I’m a realist with an occasional flare up of optimism. I think the world would be a better place if everyone would take themselves a little less seriously.
